About Equine Sport Centre

ESC is a female owned and managed yard, situated on the Stellenbosch wine route in the Western Cape, South Africa.

Since March 2017, Uzel Mouton has been the majority owner of ESC, the stable and yard manager and the club's president. Uzel's talent for working with, and natural affinity for animals, especially horses, makes her excellent at her job. Uzel first started horse riding at the age of 9 and has competed in Show Jumping, Dressage, Showing and English Mounted Games for the past four years, resulting in almost 20 years of experience in the industry. She has completed her EQASA Modules 1-3 as Professional Stable Yard Manager and furthered and completed her Stud and Yard Management qualification, with special training in Stallion Management, at the School of Excellence at Summerhill Stud in KwaZulu-Natal. Uzel has also represented South Africa as part of the National English Mounted Games team in New-Zeeland in November 2019. Uzel instructs the more advanced, competitive riders at the yard.

Chantell Aylward is ESC's main horse riding instructor (permanent) and athlete's representative for the club. Chantell has been riding horses for more than ten years and is currently also busy with her EQASA Module 1: Professional Groom. Before Chantell joined ESC, she was a professional ballroom dancer, resulting in a great understanding of the human body and the relationship it has with the horse during riding. Her main disciplines are dressage and show jumping. Chantell instructs riders of all ages and levels and is definitely a favourite amongst our riders. She has the patience of a saint.

Corlia Meyer is the club's secretary and responsible for most of the communication (voluntary) regarding ESC's activities and news. Corlia holds a PhD in Science Communication allowing her to understand the importance of communication in running a business. Corlia rode as a child but only took up riding in 2017 again and mainly competes in show jumping, dressage and English Mounted Games.

ESC is also very lucky to have numerous other volunteers that help out purely because of their love forhorses, from horse fitness to fixing tack to yard maintenance.

All the ladies of ESC, the volunteers and our excellent grooms will always go the extra mile to deliver professional service and are very passionate about horses, and animals in general.
